Our commitment
Silk Route aims to provide a calm and dignified digital experience as well as a considered chauffeur service. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing part of design, content and maintenance rather than a one-time statement.
If any part of the site prevents you from accessing information or requesting a journey, Silk Route will make a reasonable effort to provide the same information or service through another suitable channel.
Features built into this site
The current website includes:
- A skip link and semantic page regions to support keyboard and assistive-technology navigation.
- Visible keyboard focus, labelled controls and a logical heading structure.
- Alternative text for meaningful images and decorative treatment for non-essential visual elements.
- Responsive layouts designed for mobile, tablet, desktop and text enlargement.
- Colour and typography selected for legibility within the visual identity.
- Reduced-motion support for visitors who have enabled that preference on their device.
- Form labels, required-field cues and status messaging that do not rely on colour alone.
Standards and review
Silk Route aims to support the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA where reasonably applicable. The site is reviewed as content and features change, and identified barriers are prioritised according to their effect on completing a task.
Accessibility can vary across combinations of browsers, devices and assistive technologies. A statement of intent is not a guarantee that every possible combination will be free of difficulty, so practical feedback is welcomed.
Third-party services
Some journey-planning features use external services, including Google location suggestions and WhatsApp. If Google suggestions are unavailable or difficult to use, the pick-up and destination can still be entered as full text. Silk Route does not control the accessibility of third-party platforms. If an external service is difficult to use, call +27 74 537 7310 and request another way to enquire.
Help and feedback
To report an accessibility barrier or request information in another format, use the contact page or call +27 74 537 7310. Please identify the page, the task you were trying to complete and the browser or assistive technology used where you are comfortable doing so.
Silk Route will acknowledge the request and work toward a reasonable response or alternative as promptly as practicable.
