Current use of cookies
Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you select Accept analytics. It measures page visits, basic device and referral information, phone and WhatsApp clicks, and preparation of booking enquiries. An enquiry event does not mean a message was sent or a booking was confirmed. We do not send your booking fields, names, contact details, journey addresses or WhatsApp message text to Analytics. Automatic outbound-link and form tracking are disabled.
Analytics uses first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_1WHT1TL6EY, configured to expire after up to 180 days and renewed with use. Your accepted or rejected choice is stored on this device in silk-route-analytics-consent-v1 until you change it or clear site data. Choose Cookie settings in the footer at any time to reject analytics, stop future measurements and remove these analytics cookies.
Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google signals are disabled for this tracking. Google location suggestions are separate from analytics and are used to help select accurate pick-up and destination points.
Essential website technology
A hosting, security or content-delivery provider may create short-lived technical records needed to deliver and protect the website. These can include an IP address, browser and device information, requested page, date and time, or error and security events. Such records are not used by Silk Route to build advertising profiles.
The booking form works in your browser. It does not place the form fields in a Silk Route cookie or local-storage record. When you submit the form, the website prepares a WhatsApp message for you to review; it is sent only if you choose to send it through WhatsApp.
Browser assistants and WebMCP
In compatible browsers, Silk Route uses the experimental WebMCP interface to make the public service catalogue easier for a browser assistant to read and to let an assistant fill the visible booking form when you ask it to. The booking tool does not auto-submit the form, open WhatsApp or send information to Silk Route.
Any prepared details remain visible for your review. You must verify the locations and manually press Prepare booking enquiry before WhatsApp opens, and you still choose whether to send the message. Browsers without WebMCP continue to use the normal website with no loss of functionality.
Third-party services
The site requests typefaces from Google Fonts. When you use location suggestions on the booking form, the site securely sends the location search text and selected place to Google Maps Platform to return and verify suggestions. This location search does not include the traveller's name, contact details or other booking-form fields. Selecting a WhatsApp link takes you to a service operated by Meta, which may use cookies or similar technology under its own terms. Silk Route does not control third-party technology.
You can enter the full pick-up and destination address manually if location suggestions are unavailable. If you prefer not to use WhatsApp, call Silk Route on +27 74 537 7310.
Your browser choices
Most browsers let you see, block or delete cookies and clear site data. Blocking all cookies can affect the operation of some websites, although the core content of the current Silk Route site does not rely on non-essential cookies.
Browser privacy controls do not prevent a web server from receiving the basic network information required to return a page. For more about personal information, read the Privacy Notice.
If the website changes
If Silk Route introduces additional embedded services, payment tools, chat features or advertising technology, this notice and the relevant consent controls will be updated.
